The 4th of July marks Independence Day for the US and whilst we enjoy the celebrations and colourful sights we wanted to celebrate our own independents this #indiesummer. Whilst out enjoying the weather make sure you’re shopping local and celebrating the high-street and markets in your community. We wanted to join in with Independence Day by recognising some of our most beloved indie shops for our very own Independents’ Day.
First, we’re celebrating in Stevenage which has 40 different stores set up on ShopAppy.com so whatever items you are needing we are pretty confident you’ll be able to shop local in Stevenage.
Fancy some new accessories to make a statement? Handmade Jewellery shop Hootie Toot will be celebrating a year in their boutique this December; they stock a variety of products that are inspired by nature. Plus upstairs you’ll find a Zen Room – a unique space created for meditation, holistic therapy, spiritual guidance, and general wellbeing sessions.
Fresh flowers are the perfect way to celebrate the summer months so of course, we have to give a special mention to Barnaby’s Florist. They create amazing floral arrangements and bouquets with fresh flowers that are delivered three to four times a week. The lovely shop keepers can make arrangements to your specifications so no matter what the occasion your flowers can set the right tone.
We have just one more shout for our lovely vendors in Stevenage and this one is going to Star Groceries; they offer an amazing range of fresh fruit, meat, herbs, and spices as well as general groceries meaning everything you need for a #indiesummer BBQ can be bought locally and in one place – it doesn’t get easier than that!
Now moving on to our second town we’d like to give a well-deserved round of applause to the vendors in Barnsley. With a mix of market stalls and high-street shops this town really does offer a great variety of independent stores that are worth celebrating.
With freshly baked bread and a range of treats it no surprise our sweet tooth wants to give a shoutout to the lovely Krusty Loaf. Pick something delicious from a range of bakery goods, sandwiches and snacks. Whatever your taste buds are feeling make it local and tasty with the help of this market vendor in Barnsley.
Have a big family BBQ to celebrate the occasion? You can find Yorkshire bred and fed meat from Barkers the Butchers. Pick up quality meat without spending a fortune and enjoy family time with great company and even better food! Whether you fancy burgers or kebabs there is a wide variety of meats, nuts, and flavourings to tickle your taste buds.
Thirdly we want to recognise Attleborough this independents’ Day as we love the variety of local businesses from a range of different industries available. Whether it’s a quick snack, a house move or even a holiday there is an independent business that can help with that.
Feel like a kid in a candy shop and get something for those sweet tooth cravings and celebrate with chocolate. Drizzle Chocolaterie is heaven for ay chocoholic. There are tasty treats for a takeaway or stay for a while and enjoy a hot drink or milkshake with a crepe or waffle drizzled in delicious chocolate goodness. We know this mouth-watering store is the perfect place to lift your spirits rain or shine.
Get crafty this summer with supplies from Susan’s Work Basket. This family-run business stocks wool, fabrics, and haberdashery items meaning you’ll have everything you need to be creative. The experienced staff is welcoming and always more than happy to help you find what you are looking for.
Finally, we want to mention Attleborough Travel as we know everyone will be craving a summer holiday. It’s not too late to book a last minute trip or getting planning for the next break. Attleborough Travel can help you find the perfect holiday with access to over 300 different airlines and operators. Plus a real benefit of shopping local is that Independent business such as this travel agency can offer more flexibility and cater your trip especially to you so you get exactly what you are wanting.
